The Keystone Regiment name appeared in 1972. With more than 100 marchers in 1973, the Regiment took first place in Class B competition in the World Open in Lynn, Massachusetts, besting 38 other corps. The towns of Newtown and Marple were so enthused by their corps’ success that the champs got a police escort back home, where they played an impromptu concert for their supporters.
By the 1974 season, the Regiment had approximately 25 brass players. On October 1 of that year, Keystone Regiment merged with the 507 Hornets to form the Crossmen Junior Drum and Bugle Corps.
