The corps’ colors were red, white, and gold.
The main Hilltoppers corps broke away from the VFW sponsors in 1964 to form the Imperial Guardsmen, affiliated with the St. Raphael's Catholic Church. The feeder element of the Hilltoppers organization remained with the VFW, but exclusively as a parade corps.
The Imperial Guardsmen was active through at least 1999 as a Division III corps.
