The Angels of Ohio drum & bugle corps was organized in the fall of 1963 by Bill Ellis, drum major for the "Satan’s Angels" senior corps from Bellefontaine.

In their inaugural season of competition, the corps competed at the 1964 AL State championships, finishing 2nd and went on to perform in several contests in the Midwest that year. The following season saw them continue their progression while placing second once again at the State AL convention, followed the next year with victories at both the 1966 AL and VFW State championships.

In 1967, while repeating as VFW State champions, they also appeared at their first VFW Nationals, placing 18th. The corps finished 2nd at the 1968 VFW State and competed at both the US Open “Class A” and VFW Nationals with 16th and 25th place finishes respectively.

In 1969, the Angels fused into the Marion Cadets organization for one season under the name of the “Ohio Cadets” using a combination of both corps uniforms, the bugles and guard sections wore Marion uniforms and the drumline used Angels uniforms. The old Angels uniforms were then sold to the Black Shields of Sparta from Mt. Carmel.
