The Heat Wave drum and bugle corps was formed in 1992 started by a group of drum corps veterans and enthusiasts who felt it was time for the South and Florida to have a competitive “All Age”.
The first few years was a hard uphill battle, but after parading, exhibiting, opening car dealerships and hospitals, Heat Wave, sporting their orange, white & blue uniforms, hit the competition field in 1997 as the South's first corps to compete in the DCA championships in several years. Becoming a crowd favorite, the corps had gone on to be a “Class A” powerhouse in DCA, capturing the title in 1998 & 2003, 2nd place finalist in 1997, 1999 & 2001 and a preliminary participant in 2000 (11th), 4th (2004) & 5th (2005), the latter year performing in a roaring hurricane.
They disbanded in 2006.
