Spirit was one of the few primarily African-American senior corps in drum corps history.
Awards included the 1946, 1948, and 1952 Missouri State Championships, and the 1964 Midwest Invitational Contest Championships.
Spirit was active through at least 1971, though they did not participate in DCA national competition.
