Arc-En-Ciel drum & bugle corps was formed in the fall of 1976 when the original Arc-En-Ciel “All Girls” corps decided to reorganize as a coed unit.
The corps was a member of the CCMQ and FAMQ circuits, competing in their inaugural season at the 1977 “Class B” preliminaries, placing 7th. The following year, the group continued its ascent within the circuits, qualifying for the “Class B” finals of both the CCMQ (4th place) and the FAMQ (5th place) championships.
In 1979, Arc-En-Ciel expanded its competitive presence as they participated and qualified for the finals at the World Open “Class B” championships with an impressive 3rd place finish. Adding icing on the cake, they went on to be crowned both the 1979 CCMQ and FAMQ “Class B” champions. As the corps continued to build momentum, the 1980 season saw them move up in the ranks with a 3rd place finish at the Canadian Nationals and repeated once again as the FAMQ “Class B” champions.
The accomplishments of the previous year prompted the corps to officially move up to the “Open Class” division of the activity with their only appearance at the 1981 DCI “Open Class” championships. They placed a respectable 35th in the preliminaries and capped off the season with the FAMQ “Class A” title. This would arguably be their most successful competitive year in their history. In 1982, the corps went inactive for one year as the administration worked diligently to rebuild and reorganize for the 1983 competitive season. Although they missed out on the 1983 FAMQ “Class B” finals, they set a strong foundation for the next year.
Arc-En-Ciel was able to bounce back with a finalist spot at the FAMQ “Class B” championships, placing 4th but this would prove to be their final curtain call, disbanding in 1985.
