The Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps only appeared for one year (1964) but was originally formed in 1961 appeared in previous years (1961, 1962, and 1963) as Custer’s Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps. In the previous years, the corps was know by their 7th Cavalry Uniforms, but as the corps developed and got older, the uniforms required replacement and were changed to pure white cadet type, along with the name change for 1964.

The Brigades home location was Highland Park, Illinois and was co-sponsored by the Highland Park Jaycees , the North Chicago VFW and Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps Inc.

The Brigade was under the direction of Larry Grabowski as Executive Director and Frank Sosnowski as Corps Commander. Instructors were Adolphe DeGrauwe Jr. (Horn Line), Sam Geatti (Percussion) and John Opager (Drill)

At the end of 1964, the Brigade disbanded and the bulk of the membership became members of the Skokie Vanguard for 1965.
