The Sunbirds was a community-based Drum and Bugle Corps from Fairport, NY., consisting of a two-level membership in conjunction with the Firebirds. The Firebirds and Sunbirds collectively consisted of 177 members initiated by Thomas McGrath, James DeLooze, and the Reverend Father Joseph P. Beatini of the Assumption of Our Lady Church in Fairport. Jim DeLooze was a parishioner at The Assumption of Our Lady Church in Fairport, NY and Thomas McGrath was a parishioner at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Irondequoit, NY.
