The American Legion Post #206 Drum and Bugle Corps, was a large unit from Rochester, N.Y., and in operation from approximately 1946 to 1951 which rehearsed right in downtown Rochester.  The Drum Major was Lois McBride with Drum Majorettes, called such in that era, Bette McGuire 1946-48, Barbara Nohe, Thelma Gilchrist, Joan Glazebrook, Patricia Smythe, and Lillian Ransko.  When the American Legion Post #206 drum corps disbanded in 1951 many of the members migrated to the newer and upcoming Grey Knights. One of those was drummer Jimmy Murray, who became the drum instructor for the Grey Knights. Al Tevels, Director of the Grey Knights, once said to Bette McGuire we don't have any girls in the corps right now but when we do you will be the first to be asked to be Drum Major.
