The Ambassadors drum and bugle corps was originally
formed as the Saratoga Junior Cadets in 1949, an extension of the Saratoga
Cadets senior corps.
Jeff Perkins, famed corps director of Avant Garde,
joined the Junior Cadets in 1953, when he was just 11 years old.

The Junior Cadets were primarily a parade and exhibition corps
until 1954 when they transitioned into an independent organization as the
Ambassadors, changing to valve bugles. The following season, they were crowned
the 1955 VFW State “Open Class” champions.

From 1956 to 1958, the corps marched in several local
parades and field competitions before disbanding in 1959.
