The Ambassadeurs drum and bugle corps was formed in 1958 as an “All Boys” parade corps by a group of parents who decided that the city of Arvida needed its owndrum and bugle corps.

In 1960, the corps changed uniforms that they would sport for the next 8 years and incorporated five years later.

They were, in part, financially supported by the city of Arvida and the Club Kiwanis.

In the fall of 1967, the corps integrated girls and reorganized as a field competitive unit. They joined the Quebec circuit and began competition over the next few year

In 1971 and 1972, the corps won two “Junior B” Québec provincial championships before moving to the Class “A” division in 1973, where they finished in 4th
position. They also traveled to western Canada to participate in the famous Calgary Stampede parade.

In 1974, they continued their progression in FAMQ “Class A” competition and participated in the 1975 World Open “Class A” preliminaries, placing 24th.
That same year, the Arvida group finished in 2nd place at the FAMQ “Class A” championships.

In 1976, the corps competed at the Canadian Capital Open finals with a 7th place finish and placed 4th in the CQJA championships. They also competed at the FAMQ provincials.

Some of the administrative and instructional staff included Léonard Bourgeois, President, Gilbert Roy on brass, Luc Couture on percussion with Richard Privé and Joseph Arsenault as part of the marching staff.

In 1977, the Ambassadeurs reorganized as an “All Age / Senior” competitive corps.
