The CorpsVets drum & bugle was formed in the fall of 1997 as a senior parade and exhibition corps based in Atlanta. The first rehearsal of the corps was in January of 1998
with the very first performance occurring that March at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Atlanta.

The summer of 1998 found the corps boasting a membership of 44 performers and performing exhibitions at a local Drum Corps International (DCI) competition as well as marching in the WSB-TV Salute 2 America Parade on 4th of July in downtown Atlanta. The final performance that inaugural season was at the DCA Championships in Allentown, where several members represented the corps in the Individual and Ensemble Competition. The corps returned in 1999 to compete in mini corps and I&E competition. In 1999 the corps grew to 55 members and traveled to the DCA Championships, placing 4th in the mini-corps competition.

Continued growth in 2000, featured 56 members, and a second place at the DCA championships in the “Class A” division. Atlanta CV had a very exciting year in 2001 when the 65-member corps won the "Class A" title at the championships with a record score in that division. The following year, 2002, the corps grew to 94 members, advanced to the highly competitive “Open Class” Division of DCA and tied for 11th place at the championships. Competing again in the “Open Class” Division, the corps passed another milestone by earning an 8th place finish at the 2003 DCA Championships in Scranton with the production of "The Wild Party".

For 2004 the Atlanta CV fielded a production titled "The Heart of Jazz" entertaining the audience to a 10th place finish at championships. In 2005 the music of Don Ellis was presented including his great “Open Wide” and “Strawberry Soup” and moved up one position from the previous year, 9th place. The 2006 season had the corps on “A Trip to Vegas”. The corps achieved 9th
place at DCA championships and won the heart of many a fan with this fun visual program of pure entertainment!
The 2007 season was the tenth year for performing for the corps and the show was aptly titled “Celebration!”, finishing in 9th place.

In 2008, the corps performance looked back on the roots of Appalachian music and performed a show titled “Simple Gifts”, culminating the season with a 9th
finish.
The 2009 season explored more southern jazz music with “Southern Suite” and finished in 10th place. The 2010 season saw an influx of new, highly experienced staff, new uniforms, reduced member tuition, the corps largest size to date (102) and show titled “360” using music from Disney’s Millennium Celebration – 8th place. The 2011 corps journeyed into a full classical genre featuring the music of Shostakovich’s, Jacob De Haan and David Holsinger with the production “Dusk till Dawn”.

In 2012 the corps shorten its name to Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps, adopting the "CV" moniker already often used to refer to the "CorpsVets". This rebranding helped eliminate the misconception that a member must be a vet of a corps to participate, which was never the case. That year, the corps went on to finish once again in eighth position with their English themed production “God Save the Queen”. 2013 saw CV take a celestial trip with “Carpe Caelum – Seize the Heavens” playing Interstellar Suite with Dream Theater and some Elton John. A record-breaking season, both in membership (largest corps to date 111) and competition: the corps broke 90 for the first time, achieved a record score and placement – 6th place, higher than any other southern DCA corps.

2014 had CV slip into the dark side with a magical, mystical endeavor titled “HEX” – 6th place with another record score and record corps size (122). Atlanta CV came out with an
indoor percussion program in 2015, headed by percussion caption head and arranger Chris Romanowski. The ensemble competed in Winter Guard International (WGI) Percussion Independent World Class.
The 2015 edition of Atlanta CV took an iconic view of drum corps with “EyeConic” – 5th place, breaking the “Top 5” for the first time at DCA Championships with another record score. The following year, 2016, the organization decided not to come out with an indoor line, partly due to a large majority of staff and potential members going on a trip to China that took place during the heat of the season.

For the 2016 season, the corps competed with a well-balanced corps, performing their musically solid and emotionally charged production “Rhythmos…Life in Motion”. The program helped the CV finish in 6th position at the championships. In 2017, celebrated their 20th anniversary with the colorful and dynamic show entitled “Through the Glass Looking”. The Atlanta CV Indoor also returned into the competition arena, competing in WGI Percussion Independent Open Class. The corps' highest placement coincided with their highest score, set at the 2017 DCA Championships finals, with a score of 96.63 and 2nd place overall.

CV’s 2018 production of the “Chaos Theory” brought the corps to a 3rd place finish at the DCA finals followed by a return to a 2nd place finish in 2019 with their “of Gods and Goddess” presentation. As was the case for many drum corps organizations, the shutdown year in 2020 provided plenty of uncertainty regarding the future of the activity. The corps competed virtually in 2021 with their presentation of “The Elements of Cool” and finished strong with a 2nd place finish. For Atlanta CV, memories were counted in stars. In 2022, the commemorated its 25th anniversary with the return of its annual star ceremony. It was initiated when one of the first uniforms was a shirt with just a badge on it. From that badge came the star on Atlanta CV’s uniform, which is now a significant part of signifying membership.

For the Atlanta unit, after enjoying “Top 3” status over the past 4 seasons, opted to compete in the “Open Class”, formerly “Class A”, placing 2nd with their performance of
“Hide and Seek”.
In 2023, the corps continued its progression with its theme titled “Off With His Head”, music from the rock group Queen, as they finished in 4th position at the DCA “World Class” championships.
