Carolina Gold was founded as an all-age corps in 2001 and competed in Drum Corps Associates (DCA) 2001-2006, 2008-2019.

In 2018 and 2019, Carolina Gold won the DCA Open Class Championship.

Following the 2019 season, Carolina Gold planned to regroup as a junior corps and compete in Drum Corps International (DCI).

The cancellation of the DCI 2020 season dfue to the COVID-10 pandemic put those plans on hold. As of 2023, the corps has not returned to activity.
