In the fall of 1984, the 1st Canadian Regiment from Edmonton and the Cavaliers from Calgary merged for one summer and marched under the name 1st Canadian Cavaliers. This was never an official name and was just in existence for the one year as both organizations had few members and it was felt it would be best to march together.
With combined talent, resources and management, the corps flew out of the starting blocks. They had established themselves as a force to be dealt with. They toured 33 days and traveled through 19 states and three provinces before the 1985 DCI Championships in Madison, where they finished 14th in “Class A”.
Both corps reorganized separately in the fall of 1985.
