The Ambassadors drum and bugle corps was based in Springfield. They were originally formed in the fall of 1974 out of the demise of the Carmelites, when the church withdrew funding for that group. In the first two years of activity, the Ambassadors were a parade and exhibition corps but were unable to sustain support and ultimately went inactive for several years.
In 1990, the corps was reactivated under new management and competed at the 1991 Drum Corps East “Class A/60” championships, placing 10th in the prelims. The following season saw the corps participate at the Canadian Open “Division III” championships, finishing in 18th position. In 1993, the Ambassadors were crowned the Garden State Circuit “Division III” champions and followed the next year with an appearance at the DCI “Division III” championships, placing 31st.
They disbanded in 1995.
