The Ambassadors drum and bugle corps was originally formed in the fall of 1964 as the Ascots under sponsorship from the United Fire Company of Montrose.

The corps was a perennial member of the Penn York circuit and performed extensively throughout the region. In 1968, they competed in the “Standstill Class” at the Penn York championships with a 3rd place finish and returned the following season with improved success.

The 1970 season was the corps’ inaugural field competitive year as they finished in 15th position at the Penn York, successfully making the finals at the 1971 “Class B” championships, placing 6th.

In the fall of 1971, the corps reorganized as the Ambassadors, expanding their membership to the Susquehanna county. They went on to compete at the US Open “Class A” championships, finishing in 35th place in 1972 and 31st place the following season.

The Ambassadors remained active in 1974 as a parade and exhibition corps before disbanding in 1975.
