The Étoiles drum & bugle corps was originally formed in 1960 as a majorette group from Dorion.

The corps reorganized in the fall of 1970 as a competitive drum & trumpet corps and won the 1971 Provincial Class “B” championships and was then declared the FAMQ “Class A” drum & trumpet champions in 1974. In the fall of 1977, the corps converted to a competitive drum & bugle corps and entered field competition as members of both the CCMQ & FAMQ “Class B” circuits, placing 2nd in the 1978 CCMQ finals and 6th in the FAMQ preliminaries. They also participated in the World Open “Class B” championships, placing 17th in the prelims.

The next year saw the unit return to the CCMQ and FAMQ contests, finishing 7th in the 1979 CCMQ preliminary round and 5th in the FAMQ finals, followed by a 5th place finish in the 1980 FAMQ “Class A” and 7th in the Canadian Nationals “Class A” championships. That year, they appeared in a television ad for the Canada Dry soft-drink corporation. In 1981, the corps made their first appearance in the DCI “Class A” division, earning a finalist position with a 5th place finish and a 3rd place finish in the FAMQ “Class A” contest.

The Dorion group reached its greatest heights to date when they were crowned the 1982 DCI “Class A” champions and concluded the season with the championship trophy in the FAMQ “Class A” circuit. In 1983, the corps joined the Drum Corps East circuit, placing 12th in the “Class A” category along with a 5th place finish in the FAMQ finals before going inactive in 1984, regrouping as a parade unit in 1985. The Étoiles competed within the FAMQ “Class B” circuit, placing 7th in the 1986preliminary and finished in 3rd position in the finals of the 1987 FAMQ contest. After another 4 seasons of inactivity, the organization returned to the field in 1992 in what began an exciting journey, ranking 3rd in the FAMQ Class C” championships and winning the 1993 “ Class B” title.

From 1994 to 1996, the Dorion unit participated in the DCI “Division II” class, placing 12th in the 1994 prelims, 3rd in the 1995 finals and was crowned the prestigious DCI “Division II” champions while earning a 23rd position in the 1995 ‘Quarterfinals” and an incredible 15th place finish in the 1996 “Semifinals”. That year, the corps mesmerized crowds with the most innovative percussion feat ever fielded. Their success prompted the corps to move up to the “Division I’ ranks, finishing 18th & 24th in the 1997 & 1999 “Quarterfinals” and a 17th place finish in the 1998 “Semifinals”. In FAMQ competition, the corps won the 1995, 1996, 1998 & 1999 “Division I” titles, placing 2nd in the 1997 &  1994 “Division II” provincial championships.

They  ceased operations in 2000 due to low membership.
