The Golden Eagles of Sunnyvale were founded in the fall of 1967 and associated with the Sunnyvale Moose Lodge and Teamsters Local 287 in San Jose, under the leaderships of corps director, bus driver, tour manager & equipment manager, Bill Nielsen, Sr.
One of the corps sponsors and practice facilities was at the World of Music store in Cupertino, as they performed in parades and exhibitions in 1968. The corps traveled throughout California and competed in the “Class B” division in 1969 & 1970. The only out of state appearance was in the 1970 American Legion Nationals in Portland, placing 20th in the preliminary round & finished 4th in the 1970 California State Open “Class B” championships.
They disbanded in the fall of 1970 with many members joining the Knight Raiders of San Jose.
