CORPS Photos
The Coastal Surge drum and bugle corps was organized in the fall of 2012 under the direction of Eric Thompson and supported by the Coastal Surge Performance Arts Association, led by Matt Shrewsbury.
The corps opened for audition in January and March of 2013 and performed for the first time at the Memorial Day parade in Myrtle Beach. They continued participating in parades and exhibitions in their inaugural year, entering the field of competition in 2104. The Surge competed in the “Open Class” division at the DCI championships, placing 11th and finished 33rd in the “World Class” preliminary round.
The group had prepared for the 2015 competitive season, actively rehearsing and performing in local events, when the Performance Arts Association announced they were not financially stable to tour that summer.
They disbanded in 2016.
