Alliance drum and bugle corps was formed in 1999, based in San Diego. They were committed to helping young people become better citizens as well as better stewards of their time and talents.
In addition, Alliance members learned music and pageantry skills and were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in front of thousands of young people.
The corps was sponsored by Lockheed Martin, Innovative Percussion, Inc., The Master Musician, and Sticktape.com, and was hosted by Helix High School. In their inaugural season of competition, the corps finished 2nd at the California Open “Division III” championships were topped the 2003 DCI Pacific “Division III” finals.
In 2002, Alliance competed at the DCI “Division III” championships, fielding 8 brass, 21 percussion, and 5 guard. They finished 14th in preliminaries. Taking a big jump in 2003, the small corps of 23 members finished 10th in “Division III” competition. In that 2003 show, the black, white, and purple-clad drum line carried and pounded ten wooden boxes in support of their Amazon-themed show.
The corps disbanded in 2004.
