    Wayne Hiller is a Bridgeport, CT, Black Rock artist/musician who displays a passion for photo-realism-style painting.  He has been painting and selling his work since 1970. 

    From, 1980 to 1987 he created and sold hundreds of acrylic, pallet knife paintings of drum and bugle corps from across the country.  His paintings focused on junior and senior corps located primarily in the Northeast.  He sold his paintings at many competitions and took specific orders, especially from corps members and fans.

    Hiller’s 50- music career includes membership in the U.S. Navy Band as well as a diverse career of entertaining in Hawaii, Connecticut and New York.  He has been a music arranger, instructor and competition judge for many drum corps and marching bands from coast to coast and been associated with corps including the Connecticut Yankees, the Trumbull Cadets, CMCC Warriors, and the New London Surfers, as well as the George Washington Carver Gay Blades, Garden Statesmen, Bengal Lancers, St. Raphael’s Golden Buccaneers, and St. Peter’s Royalairs.

    Mr. Hiller was member of MENC and the Eastern All-American Judges Association.  He was a Drum Corp Associates judge for 10 years and judged seven national championships.  He was inducted into the Bugler’s Hall of Fame in 2014.

    Currently using acrylic, gouache and watercolors, Hiller has concentrated on painting themes that depict Native American myths and history from the Southwest, and the Maine and New England coastline.  His photo-realism style creates bright and vivid paintings.  Mr. Hiller's work has been shown in galleries in Arizona, Vermont, Maine and Connecticut.

    He is a retired music teacher from the Bridgeport Public School System, where he was the band director at both Central and Harding High Schools.  Mr. Hiller is currently the director and music arranger for the Stratford Community Band and The Wayne Hiller Octet.

    Mr. Hiller did his degree work in music and fine arts at the Navy School of Music, Susquehanna University, New York University and the University of Bridgeport.  He has a B.A., M.S., and Sixth-Year Degree in Music Education.
