The Guardsmen drum and bugle corps was formed in the fall of 1967 as a feeder corps to the Sentinels of Bellevue, under director Duane C. Andrews in their inaugural year.
In 1968, the corps performed in parades and exhibitions throughout the Pacific Northwest primarily as a money making entity to help support the Sentinels. The following season, James C. McCormick was named as director and they entered field competition in the "Class C" Northwest division.
The Guardsmen competed under his leadership until 1971, when the feeder unit was temporarily deactivated due to internal restructuring and financial restraints. The corps was reactivated in 1974 by Mr. & Mrs. Bowers as a parade group for one final season.
They disbanded in 1975 as the Sentinels organization merged with the Shamrocks.
