Mountain Magic

The Mountain Magic drum and bugle corps was founded in the fall of 1990. The corps was based out of Huntington West Virginia and was primarily made up of local high School students as well as many students from Marshall University. The original corps had 59 members which put it in the old “A-60” division.

The group rehearsed in and around the Huntington area performing in parades and civic events as well as several DCI shows and finally performing a the DCI World Championships in Dallas TX. It should be noted that the corps only official year of DCI competition was 1991. After 1991 the corps existed in name only and made a couple of public appearances but never took the field again.

The corps style was designed to be “Dark Classical”. The 1991 Repertoire: The Damnation of Faust/In the Hall of the Mountain King/Danse Macabre/A Night On Bald Mountain. The brass arrangements were by famed drum corps arranger Jim Prime. Percussion: Keith Nance. Drill/visual design: Marc Whitlock. Other staff included: Bob Graff, Pat Tucker=Brass, Dan Shope, Howie Newton, Greg Vance=percussion. All of the staff brought years of drum corps experience as former members of Star Of Indiana, Cadets, Pride Of Cincinnati and The Crossmen.
