The Florida Guardsmen drum and bugle corps was formed in September of 1990 by Lee county musical instructors James Newman and Kevin Ostrowski.
The corps performed in local parades and exhibitions in their inaugural season of activity, entering the field of competition in 1992, participating in the Drum Corps East circuit, placing 7th in the “Division II/III” class and finished in 13th position in the DCI “Division II” championship preliminaries.
Due to financial restraints, the corps disbanded in 1993.
