The Floyd Bennett Golden Eagles drum and bugle corps was originally formed in the late spring of 1955 as the Floyd Bennett American Legion (AL) Post 1066 of Brooklyn, under the direction of Post Commander Albert J. Miller.
The corps performed in parades and exhibitions in their inaugural season, entering the field of competition in 1956 and went by the name “Golden Eagles” at least since 1957, pursuing their competitive ways overt the next few years and joined the “Penn-Jersey” circuit in 1961, placing 6th in the championships followed by an 11th place finish in the 1962 contest. The Floyd Bennett group also participated in the New York AL state conventions of 1961 & 1962, finishing in 2nd & 3rd position respectively. The Eagles staged a studio recording by Fleetwood Sounds in 1961.
They disbanded in 1963.
