In early 1968, the Gabrielettes went coed through a merger with the Golden Chiefs of Cahokia to form the Gabrielettes/Gabriel-Aires.
The corps competed for one season, placing 8th in the 1968 Illinois State Fair finals. The group remained active as a parade unit until 1971. The Gabrielettes/Gabriel-Aires also had the distinction of being the first unit to perform in public on roller skates, for which they had practiced for 18 months, before an audience of 30,000 in the National campers convention in Duquoin.
They disbanded in 1972.
