The Golden Chiefs drum and bugle corps was likely formed in 1963 by the Cahokia Police Department as a delinquency preventive measure under the direction of Jack Spinks.
The corps performed at least from 1964 to 1966 as a parade unit, entering the field of competition in 1967 for one season.
In 1968, they merged with the Gabrielettes “All-Girls” of Belleville to form the Gabrielettes/ Gabriel-Aires coed corps.
