The Flamingo Espadrille drum and bugle corps was formed in 1971 as a feeder unit for the Flamingos, under the direction of Stan Hamilton.
The corps was a member of the Northwest Drum Corps Association (NWDCA), competing in the “Class C” division in 1972, winning the 1973 NWDCA title. Over the next 2 seasons, the Escadrille, nicknamed the “Flamingo Chicks” in a May 5th, 1971, Statesman Journal article, performed in local and regional events as a parade and exhibition group. Over the years, the instructional staff included Bill Tebeau & Jim Bocock on brass; Sybil Chesley on guard, Richard Kibbey & Dave Hunter on visual and Lloyd Young & Ian Brown on percussion.
They disbanded in 1976.
