The Expressions drum and bugle corps was organized in the fall of 1987 and based in Hammond.

In their inaugural year of competition, the group participated in the 1988 US Open “Class A/60” division, placing 10th in the preliminary round and 18th in the DCI prelims. The Expressions continued their progress with 7th place “Class A/60” finishes in both the 1989 US Coast Guard finals and the US Open preliminaries. They went on to capture the DCI Canada “Class A/60” title, culminating with a 14th position ranking in the DCI championships.

The following season saw the unit move up to the “Class A” division, earning a finalist spot in the 1990 DCI North (4th), the DCI Midwest (5th) & the US Coast Guard (6th), before their 12th place preliminary performance in the DCI contest. In their final season of competition, the Expressions placed 11th in the US Open “Class A” prelims, a 10th place finish in the DCI South regional & earned a 15th place finish in the DCI “Class A” preliminaries.

Although recruitment began well for 1992, the corps' numbers dwindled from 80 to 18 by the spring, too few to maintain DCI obligations. The corps disbanded before the 1992 season.
